Just got off the phone . MONDAY MONDAY MONDAY ( March 5 ) 10 AM the poker room is OPENING.
I have been through all the previous alleged opening dates. March first then the end of March then in the middle of March. MONDAY I believe is for real. again 10:00 AM. I went up a couple of weeks ago just to see where to park ect. Getting accurate info has not been easy . They swore then that it would be March 1 then they changed to the end of march then to the middle. I just got a call MONDAY March 5, 10 AM. It is scheduled and approved. At least that is the info received. DEAL ME IN

I was there yesterday and the place is pretty nice. I like the bars in the gaming area and also the fact that there is no smoking in the casino. Poker room not open until beginning of March.

My friend was there this past Sunday and inquired about the opening of the poker room on March 1st.
He was told that they were going to delay the opening to Monday March 5th.

i was there yesterday, poker room not ready.i asked around and really nobody knew the best answer was sometime in march. ok so i walked around and all blackjack tables were full ( MANY TABLES WERE CLOSED. the 25$ tables wee pretty busy.) by the way parking valet was 6$ they are looking to cater to high rollers but the high stakes room was empty. 300$ to 500$ for a room good luck with that. i am less than a hour away but i guess i will still play at the sands until they get there poker room ready. did not try any of the food outlets.

I was also there over this past weekend, poker room is opening on March 1st. it’s already on Bravo. Dave, the former poker room manager at the Sands is now the poker manager at Resorts World. This room is only one hour from my house, 20 min shorter than Sands so I hope to spend many sessions there. I also think poker is gonna be mobbed after looking at all the comments on their facebook page, a lot of people asking about poker.
They only have half the hotel rooms available which is why the rates are so high. Also they’re way under staffed. The don’t even have people to manage the bathrooms. I heard people were quitting, and also a cocktail waitress quit after they wanted her to clean the bathrooms. Now I’m hearing this was only a soft opening and their grand opening is going to be in May.
If you do go there take my advice and don’t plan on eating, eat on the way there and stop for food after you leave. A lot of people were complaining there’s no buffet. That’s fine with me but they’re advertising that they’re a “Las Vegas style casino” but they’re not at all imo. The food court is really useless since you have to order from a kiosk, then wait God knows how long for your food so don’t expect to take a 30 min break from poker to get something to eat. It might take more like two hours (that is something Sands spoiled us with, being their food court is right next to the poker room. Resorts world food court is a joke compared to Sands and the sit down grill restaurant had a two hour wait for food when I was there on Sunday at around 3pm.
I really think we need to be patient even after the room opens for them to work out all the kinks, I do hope they read all the complaints on their fb and yelp and change that food court.

u are correct, but the poker room at the sands was moved to where the deli was. only food is chop sticks is close but chop sticks is one of the best Chinese food around. yum but now that resorts is open is 1/2 half hour closer to me and not so much traffic to deal with. the trucks oni78 are nuts at 70 mph they are rite on your tail lol but so far the food at resorts is pretty bad, also no buffet, that i like now and then. steak house will open soon but i am sure they will be pricey the grill and pub food was really bad hope it gets better and no bus boys. wow running on the cheap will not cut it.

I read with great anticipation that the opening date had been moved up from March 1 to Feb 15. Then even better it was moved up to Feb 8. I was elated. I then looked up the telephone number and called them to find out how soon I could get a players card and what kind of poker they would be offering. My answer was that there would be no poker since the poker room was still under construction. However they would be offering over 100 gaming tables as well as over 1000 slots. I explained that I had no interest in either of those forms of gambling. I then asked when they expected to have the poker room open . I could not get an answer it seems nobody knows. I was told to check back after they open and perhapes someone would then have an idea. It seems the big push to open is for the oriental new year so I guess there will be oriental table card games but no live poker. Truly I was not surprised by any of this. I usually do not play or make reservations during January or February because the weather is so uncertain and AC and CT are 3 hours away. Resorts will be 1 hour. I should have known it was to good to be true. After speaking to them I made my reservations ( for complimentary rooms) at Foxwoods for March. I have a feeling that besides not being able to get a free drink it will be a while before you will be able to play cards. OK so lets give them a break it is a new place and there is a lot to do so I only have one question WHEN might we be able to get an answer to at least when they expect to have poker. After spending over a BILLION dollars it would be nice if poker was not treated as a red headed step child and the players given the same accord that any novice slot player automaticly receives.

The poker room is still supposed to open on March 1 according to the info on the thread at 2+2 forum https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/199/venues-amp-communities/resorts-world-catskills-formerly-montreign-rc-ny-hype-thread-1611147/index3.html#post53393033

It will take time for RWC poker room to get going, but the demand will be there, and then they are going to have to serve that market, or leave money on the table. Clearly they want to get in well with the Asian gambler since they are a high return customer for the casino – can’t blame them for that. Its up to poker players to show up to this room in huge numbers, and blow past their guarantees for tournaments –
that will get their attention for sure.

We will have to wait and see how Resorts World Catskills caters to poker players. We know that they will offer poker tournaments based on the casino developer’s response to my email:

      We will have tournaments, yes.

      Mr. Degliomini,

Many of my poker playing friends and I have been closely watching for news about Resorts World Catskills and how it will cater to the large, growing, affluent, local, and potentially very loyal segment of customers that regularly play poker at casinos. I’ve read that RW Catskills will feature a 16 table poker room on the second level of the gaming floor which I’m sure will be beautiful and busy, but what about tournaments? A lot of poker players in NYC and the Hudson Valley spend a lot of time and money at the two closest, most prominent poker tournament venues – Borgata and Foxwoods – which feature the best selection of weekly tournaments and regular special events throughout the year. Can we expect RW Catskills to rival these tournament powerhouses and grab this market share? I would much rather drive 1 hour to Monticello, than 2+ hours to Foxwoods or 3 hours to A.C. – I’m sure many feel the same way.

I regularly play in local (non-casino) tournaments throughout the region – sometimes 2 or 3 in a month – and have come to know hundreds of players who would love to establish their new “home” poker room in the Catskills. Our biggest concern is that the casino might be too focused on other segments, like slot players, and ignore the lucrative poker tournament segment. Most times I go to Foxwoods for a day trip to play in a tournament, I eat two meals at their restaurants – so we spend a lot of money besides the tournament entry fee.

As a hopeful future customer of your long-anticipated casino, and someone who will work with my friends and fellow players to see that poker tournaments at RW Catskills receive a very high turnout, I look forward to your reply.

      Thank you,

Rivers is a small room . Foxwoods has dozens of tables. Rivers usually has one table for limit play the rest is usually mostly no limit. There is no stud which will probably be the same at resorts. If it is the same size as Rivers considering the hype and expense of this place then it is tiny . Even Mohegan Poconos is bigger. In Rivers as in most of the Indian places in NYS you cannot get a complimentary alcoholic beverage instead you can drop 1000 bucks in a game and if you want a beer pay 8 dollars. I would guess that since these joints get away with this type of policy this place will be the same. Good old New York State 30 years behind the times getting casinos with policys still behind the times. I hope I am wrong. it was obvious that once the outfit that ran the semi casino at the Monticello Racetrack for years, got the bid that they would tie up with a big company like resorts. It was obvious that was there plan and there edge for getting the license. Resorts runs some good places perhapes they will change policys I hope so. At least there will be a place to play cards less than 100 miles away. Otherwise I will continue to go to foxwoods 150 miles away. Often with complimentary rooms, whatever you want to drink at the table including champagne. Plenty of stud poker. Good old NYS where you still cannot legally play poker on line still 30 years behind.

So this will be about the same size as the poker room at Rivers Schenectady? I’ve been there and it is pretty nice. Not as big as Foxwoods, and tourney action is light.
